Dog Training Puppies - It's Never Too Early

Well almost never too early. You should wait until your puppy is about 10 weeks old, and here's why. . .

When can you begin dog training puppies?

In fact, you can. A good rule of thumb is at about 10 weeks or when the puppy begins walking. Then you'll begin to coach it. First you may wish to be positive that the mother will permit you to get the puppy removed from herself for some puppy training.

Most new puppies are obtained at about the 6-week mark, which is generally when the puppy is weened. This is a good time to start training with your puppy, free from the mom's interference.

Here are some tips when you are dog training a puppy.

You always want to start from a place of trust. Your puppy must trust you and know that you care about him or her. Begin by stroking or petting your new puppy. While petting the puppy, talk softly to it so the puppy gets familiar with your voice. Strive to see when your puppy can attend the bathroom and try to take the puppy outdoors. If you want, you can also try the doggy litter box.

Next, start the habit of teaching your puppy a reward system. Let him understand that he will be rewarded for positive responses or positive behavior that you ask or command of him. Offer your puppy an appropriate treat once you have it to do one thing and it does do it. Regardless if you have to help the puppy learn the behavior, it's part of its learning process. For example, if you're trying to train the puppy to sit down and it is not catching on right away, it's okay to tap its behind down until the puppy sits, Then praise and reward your puppy with a treat, reinforcing the positive behavior.

Additionally, make certain that your puppy is aware of that a portion of the puppy's reward is your positive praise. It's okay to give your puppy a little "baby talk" and say that it is such a good dog. Build a fuss and allow it to feel it can trust you. When you begin your dog training while your pet is still a puppy, you'll build a long-term, trusting and loving relationship.

Dog training puppies may be a wonderful idea. Attempt to find a sensible puppy training program, and you'll be able to teach your puppy while building that sensible relationship. When you start your puppy out on the right foot, I mean paw, you and your puppy will be the envy of many other dog owners.

Dog training your puppies allows you to have a longer living, happier, healthier dog. You'll feel the pride of ownership of a well-trained dog and avoid the embarrassment of those with unruly dogs. Start young with training your puppy, and you'll be in for a long, loving relationship with a wonderful new addition to your family.
